How to Avoid a Lawsuit from Blogging
September's SMB Toledo will feature Chris Myers, owner and editor of the Swamp Bubbles blog, a user-centered site dedicated to breaking news and political discussion in Toledo and Northwest Ohio.
Chris, and his attorneys, Fan Zhang and C. William Bair, have an interesting story to share. Chris will talk about his experiences on the receiving side of multiple legal demands his online activities and site has attracted as well as his experiences being caught up in a libel suit.
Chris was successful in getting the suit dropped and will share his thoughts on how to stay out of legal trouble with your blogging and social media activities.
In today's litigious society, your online comments or blog post about a bad service, faulty product, or a public figure could have you slapped with a lawsuit. You might be innocent, but by the time you pay an attorney for your defense you still lose.
Come and learn from Chris’s experience and minimize your legal exposure from your social media activities.
Join us on Friday, September 11 at the Elks Lodge Toledo 53 for Social Media Breakfast Toledo No. 5.
* For those registering online, we ask that you please bring your receipt to the event as proof of purchase. We've had a few situations where people have registered but not listed on our check-in sheet.
